Reflektioner
On-chain generative art by TΞNGIL.
Reflektioner is a series exploring reflections in latent space.
Each piece is generated entirely on-chain and returned from the contract as an SVG, enabling it to be rendered at any scale.
Minting is tentatively set to begin on block number . The total supply is 999 and the price per token is Ξ 0.13. Each 8-hour period (starting at midnight GMT/UTC) the contract allows 333 tokens to be minted in order for people in different timezones to mint at their convenience. It will take at least 16 hours before all tokens are minted.
History
The history of this work dates back to 1919, when Walter Gropius founded the first Bauhaus School in Weimar. Over the years the Bauhaus pioneered the merge of art and technology, something that we are reliving today with the advent of on-chain generative art. Today we are all part of pushing the boundaries of technology and art.
However big the inspiration of the Bauhaus movement is (and it is very big), this work has little in common with the visuals of Bauhaus artworks. It has a life of its own and an aesthetic reflecting the time and environment of it's creation.
Within the NFT space, the frontier of art and technology is being moved at a much more rapid phase than 100 years ago, but the driving forces are still similar. We are all joined together by an optimism about the future and belief in technology, only this time we are not constrained by physical location or political pressure. We belong to a global movement.

This series is created by generative artist TΞNGIL.
Artwork
The artwork is contained entirely on-chain without any reliance of external servers for maintaining metadata.
The artwork should mean to you what you want it to mean. It comes from a place of calm and safety, a hometown with a large river as its focal point. As the water flows past, each drop passing by means a new one takes its place in a perpetual but turbulent cycle.
The final algorithm has evolved over time, sometimes touching on a feeling of smoke and clouds, sometimes towards a more brutalist and rough, almost suprematist feel. Some of the minted tokens may retain memories of the journey it has been on, however faint.
Technology
Placing an entirely generative series of art fully on-chain is no simple task. This series uses the approach of having the contract generating SVG files which are returned from the tokenURI method. This approach is well suited for on-chain art as it ensures that gas costs for minting are kept low (although the contract creation becomes more costly).
On-chain
The benefit of keeping the entire series on-chain is that the artwork will live on as long as the blockchain does. You can be safe knowing that even if this site goes down you will always be able to see the visual representation of your token. And because it is using SVG, you will be able to view it at any scale.
That is true permanence in the web3 era.

Future
This series should be seen as a standalone series and enjoyed as such, but is part of a longer journey for the artist. There are breadcrumbs left in the contract that can be used by future works by TΞNGIL (or other artists) to build a personal connected corner of the Metaverse, however there are no promises made at this time that it will happen.
